Legacy Application to Microservices

Many current legacy applications are implemented as monoliths in which all data storage and processing is controlled by monoliths and all functions for all data objects are processed using the same backend codebase.

The micro-services software-development pattern provides a method of creating a single and integrated service from a collection of small services. Each microcomputer component focuses on a set of loosely connected actions on a small and well-defined dataset. Each microsave has a separate storage system that helps keep all data in one place.

By reducing the number of blocking operations on the data-storage backend, this architecture enables micro-services to be scaled horizontally, increasing capacity by adding more nodes to the system rather than increasing resources (RAM, CPU, storage) on a single node.
